There’s only one way to win the Super Bowl in the NFL.

MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

If you don’t make the playoffs, you don’t win the Super Bowl. Pretty simple to understand. In the NFL, it’s pretty easy to make the playoffs (don’t tell that to the 3 other AFC East teams that have to put up with New England’s stuff every year or the Detroit Lions). If you win your division, you’re in the playoffs. THAT’S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO!

It’s easier said than done though. For example, let’s take a look at how many division championships each team has in the last sixteen years (or since the NFL went to four divisions in 2002):

New England Patriots (14)

Green Bay Packers (9)

Indianapolis Colts (9)

Pittsburgh Steelers (8)

Seattle Seahawks (8)

Philadelphia Eagles (7)

Denver Broncos (6)

Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers (5)

Carolina Panthers (5)

Kansas City Chiefs (4)

Houston Texans (4)

Baltimore Ravens (4)

Cincinnati Bengals (4)

Minnesota Vikings (4)

Atlanta Falcons (4)

New Orleans Saints (4)

Dallas Cowboys (4)

Chicago Bears (3)

New York Giants (3)

San Francisco 49ers (3)

Arizona Cardinals (3)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3)

Washington Redskins (2)

Tennessee Titans (2)

St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams (2)

New York Jets (1)

Miami Dolphins (1)

Jacksonville Jaguars (1)

Oakland Raiders (1)

Teams with zero division titles the last sixteen years: Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns

There you go. Win your division and you have a chance at making the Super Bowl, but like I said….it’s easier said than done.

With football season right around the corner, it’s time to take a look at how each time stacks up in their division. Yes, it’s time for THE PRE-SEASON ALL-DIVISION TEAMS!

The best players at every position in every division.

After reading this, you should have a good feeling on each NFL team as we head into the final lap of pre-season and we get to some actual meaningful football because it’s been too long.
