Three Things I Like About The Jets This Season:
-The Rookie Safeties: The Jets are probably the least talented team in the NFL on paper. From top-to-bottom, they are just a dumpster fire and there’s not a whole lot of hope for them this season. This team does have a legit chance at going 0-16 and no one in the world would be shocked. However, there is something to get excited about for Jets fans and that’s rookies Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams. You have to start building a team somewhere and it appears as though the Jets may have found two young legit players at the safety positions. We’ve seen from the Seattle Seahawks first hand what can happen when you have excellent safeties on your roster. The Jets may not have a lot of talent, but they have some stud safeties that will be on everyone’s radars after this season.
-Loaded QB NFL Draft: The Jets might have the worst QB situation in the NFL (more on that later). Luckily for them, this upcoming draft is loaded at the QB position and the Jets WILL be drafting in the top 5 of next year’s draft for sure. Will New York FINALLY find their long-term solution at the QB position after this season? Their fans had better hope so because that guy isn’t currently on their roster.
-TANKING: The Jets should tank this season and lose every game they potentially can. The NFL isn’t like the NBA. If you are the worst team in the league, you get the first overall pick and I don’t think you have to tell Jets fans how badly they need that pick. It’s difficult to get NFL guys to tank a season because NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed and players can be cut at anytime. Guys actually do try to bust their asses in order to keep their jobs. However, with Tom Brady reaching the end of his career soon (WE THINK), the AFC East could potentially open up in a few years. With a franchise QB in place, the Jets could get ahead of the curve.
Three Things I Hate About The Jets This Season:
-Roster Stinks: Man, just looking at that Jets roster on paper…you really have to wonder how this team is going to win any games this season. These guys are a dumpster fire folks. Offensively, they have three guys that I would take on my team and the rest of them are all hot garbage and that’s me being nice. The Jets are going to be the worst offensive team in the NFL and things don’t look much better on the defensive side of the ball. Even if the Jets stink this season and they end up with the #1 overall pick and get their QB of the future, it’s likely going to take a while for these guys to build an NFL roster that’s ready to compete. This team sucks.
-QB Situation: The Jets might have the NFL’s worst QB situation hands down. As of right now, the starter is slated to be Josh McCown. He’s been decent in his career, but he’s old as dirt now and he’s not the long-term solution for them. And neither is Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg. These guys have had multiple opportunities to win the starting job from McCown, yet they continuously come up short. The Jets don’t have a good QB on their roster right now and I don’t have to remind you that things get ugly quick when you don’t have a guy who can sling the rock back there.
-THEY’RE THE GOL DAMN JETS!: Much like that little kid in the Adam Sandler movie “Big Daddy” said, the Jets will never win anything because they are the “gol damn Jets”! Some NFL teams are destined for greatness (see: The New England Patriots) and some teams will always be a reminder of how NOT to run an NFL team (see: The New York Jets). The Jets suck and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them go 0-16 at all.
The Prediction:
1-15
