Three Things I Like About The Giants This Season:

-Passing Targets: Eli Manning is a mediocre NFL QB. Let’s get that out of the way right away. Sure, I would probably take him on my favorite NFL team because the guy has shown that he can lead your team to a Super Bowl and win it. The problem with Eli is he’s highly inconsistent year-in and year-out and you just never know what to expect from him. Well, this year…he should have a fantastic year thanks to the weapons the Giants have surrounded him with. Not only will Eli have Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard back this season, but he’ll have rookie tight end Evan Engram and long-time NFL veteran Brandon Marshall to share the ball with as well. The Giants definitely aren’t lacking targets for Eli Manning and that’s never a bad thing.

-Defensive Line: When the Giants won the Super Bowl a few years ago, one of the reasons why was because they had one of the scariest defensive lines in the NFL. After a few years of some average play on the d-line, the Giants can now say they boast one of the scariest defensive lines in the league again. Jason Pierre-Paul, Olivier Vernon, and Damon Harrison are all great players and I just can’t foresee how any offensive line in the league will deal with these guys. It’s just not possible.

-Landon Collins: Last year was a huge year for Landon Collins. After a rookie year where he was absolutely garbage and looked like a potential bust, Collins turned the corner last year and was arguably the best safety in the NFL. He became a monster in stopping the run and also sharpened up his coverage skills and was tremendous in that aspect as well. I expect Collins to be even better this season, which is just scary if you ask me.

Three Things I Hate About The Giants This Season:

-Offensive Tackles: If the Giants fail to achieve success this season, it will largely be because their offensive tackles are pure trash. Unfortunately for the Giants, the offensive tackle position is considered the second most important position on the offense. The job of the offensive tackle is to protect the QB. If they can’t protect the QB, the QB is going to have a looooooooooong night. Eli Manning is going to have a lot of loooooooooong nights this season. For Giants fans hoping that former first-round pick Ereck Flowers will turn the corner this season…’s not happening. The guy’s mechanics are broken. You know it’s bad when former offensive lineman are posting gifs of Flowers on Twitter and telling people that he’s a bust and he’ll never get it figured out.

-Schedule: The Giants don’t have a friendly schedule this season. For one, they play in the NFC East which is a tough division. Dallas, Philly, and Washington could all potentially be playoff teams and there are no “gimmies” in the division. And things don’t get any easier with the AFC teams the Giants are scheduled to face this year. The Giants draw the AFC West this season and it’s my expert opinion that the AFC West has FOUR potential playoff teams in that division. If the Giants are able to crack the post-season this year, they will have definitely deserved it. This is not an easy slate of games.

-Linebackers: New York’s defense took a gigantic step last season. They went from one of the worst units in the NFL to one of the best units in the NFL thanks to some fantastic signings in free agency. Unfortunately the Giants still have a few holes on their defense though. New York needs some improved play out of their linebackers this season if they are going to make any noise in the post-season. Outside of Devon Kennard, the Giants don’t have a linebacker on their roster that I think is worth a damn. Improvement is needed immediately or it could end up being a long season for New York’s defense.

The Prediction:
